Faith woke up cold. She grumbled sleepily and moved to wrap her arms around herself for warmth. There was rustling and a crunch as the leaves beneath her were disturbed by her movement.

Once she'd gotten home, she dropped her school stuff in her room then walked right back out the door. It was time for her dog-walking job. She walked down the road to pick up her five charges. Two prize winning pure-bred poodles named Buffett and Rex, a Husky called Fuzz, one Boston Terrier named Mickey, and some sort of wolf-looking mix named Blitz. They were a hyper, but obedient bunch. Every day after school she walked the mismatched group for an hour, making sure to pick up after them, occasionally taking them to the dog park, and then dropping them back off at home to their owners or housekeepers.

Despite her resolve to leave at three-thirty like her Uncle said, Faith wasn't able to lift herself out of bed until four-thirty, and even that was a challenge. She'd been in bed since ten-forty-five and her body still ached. Grandpa Damien had already arrived, and was sitting in the living room with her guardians, talking casually.
Faith carefully changed into a T-shirt under a blue long sleeved hoody, and a pair of comfortable cropped cargo pants that stopped at her calves, before sneaking down the hall to the bathroom. After cleaning herself up, she downed four aspirin to dull the now mild headache and muscle pains.
